Dana Nachman and Don Hardy

Don Hardy and Dana Nachman answering questions about Witch Hunt at Cinequest Film Festival

Dana Nachman and Don Hardy began working together in the summer of 2002 as they embarked on the production of their first documentary, "Close to Home" about the Bay Area victims of September 11th.  At the time they were both on staff at the San Francisco NBC station.  "Close to Home" went on to win an Emmy Award, Edward R. Murrow Award and Radio and Television News Director Association Award.  The team's next project explored the controversy surrounding California's Medical Marijuana laws.  "Pot and Politics: California vs. the United States won the Associated Press Award for Best Documentary.  Hardy and Nachman continued their television work producing news, technology, environmental, and sports programs for NBC until 2008 when they moved into independent film making.  Their debut film "Witch Hunt," was executive produced and narrated by Sean Penn and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.  Soon after Toronto, Witch Hunt was purchased by MSNBC Films.  Since its acquisition "Witch Hunt" has been seen by more than four million people.  Hardy and Nachman are currently working on their next documentary, "Love Hate Love" which is set to come out in the fall 2011.

Chelsea Matter

Cheslea MatterChelsea first fell in love with storytelling while working as an intern in the special projects department at NBC11 in San Jose. It was there that she met Don and Dana, who were then completing their second documentary project, “Pot and Politics.” From them, she first learned about the power of true stories to motivate audiences profoundly and entice social change. That revelation began her path towards a career in documentary filmmaking. She went on to spend 2 years as a news writer at WGN-TV in Chicago before transitioning back to longer-format journalism, working as an Associate Producer on series like “The Final Report”
for The National Geographic Channel and “Biography” for A&E. She then moved to Boston, where she produced the pilot episodes of the series “Sliced” for The History Channel and several episodes of “Build it Bigger” for The Discovery Network’s Science Channel. This brought her all over the world, telling the stories of people and projects that are defining countries and changing lives. While she loved this experience, she is thrilled to be back in the Bay Area pursuing her passion with her original mentors and making films that can change the world.

Chelsea graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Communication and a minor in Political Science. She lives in San Francisco with her wonderful husband, Kyle. In their spare time they enjoy cheering on the Stanford football team and exploring remote locations around the world.
